Technology for Healthcare and Health: Challenges and Opportunities Ahead

Investments in technology for healthcare and health are accelerating, and we’re seeing progress made towards improved patient experience and operational efficiencies. However, as a recent CIO.com article makes clear in itspredictions for 2016, plenty of challenges remain.

Data silos and interoperability are two connected issues that many health systems and networks wrestle with, and we’re deeply involved in solving those challenges daily.

This article’s prediction that non-CIO executives are playing an increasing role in healthcare technology isn’t surprising. Technology is transforming healthcare organizations from allsides, and this is requiring a greater range of skills and expertise. The issues are complex, from understanding and managing consumer-facing, cloud-based dynamic apps to analyzing massive amounts of data to dealing with critical data security issues.

No matter how experienced IT leaders are, this is new territory. The key is to know where you’re going.
